This wetland is largely fed by the Maullín River without detracting from the contribution made by the El Sarao estuary and it is also connected to the El Loto lagoon by means of canals.
Its size allows navigation in boats so you can find boat service.
Bird watching is another must-see. Some of the species that you can see are the Colorado and Jergón Ducks (large and small); great and small herons; Huairavo; Tagua (common and small), Yecos, Picurio and Pimpollo (great divers) and those who steal the film are the unmistakable 7 colors, the Garza Cuca and the Cuervo de Pantano.
